The pressure is on to sustainably provide energy, housing, transportation, security, food, and water. Creating intelligent urban environments that efficiently support this growth requires vision, efficient use of technology and resources, an enabling infrastructure, and an environment that attracts a supporting and talented workforce.


This program will uncover the newest trends and developments that are driving smart city innovation in Italy today. It brings together those players who are invested in entrepreneurship and moving ideas from research to market to support the rise of the smart city.


The Competition: BNL/BNP Paribas and other supporting partners present the most disruptive Italian startups across industry sectors - all with a stake in furthering smart city initiatives, including entrepreneurs, enterprises, local authorities and investors.

Smart City Innovation Awards is a half-day MIT Enterprise Forum conference and competition with the aim of identify, inspire and connect innovators and technology entrepreneurs to succed faster and smarter.

A panel of high profile judges will select the most innovative projects that will be presented during the Smart City Innovation Awards the 11th of June at BNP Paribas House, Millan. The brightest Italian innovators will pitch their projects in urban mobility, big data applications, transport solutions, energy efficiences and more. This fast-paced pitch platform is for entrepreneurs, technologists and investors alike, to help facilitate the next round of funding, matching coaches and potential, investors with innovators, in a celebration of entrepreneurship. Startup pitches will focus on answering the big questions in a rapid-fire, 3-minute presentacion series.

The Smart City Innovation Awards will reward the top project with a trip to participate in EmTech - the most important emerging technologies conference worldwide -, that will be held at the MIT Media Lab in the heart of the MIT campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from the 2nd to the 4th of November, 2015
